Wrong! This winter, banish dry, itchy skin before it even begins with our top 3 delicious body scrub recipes that you can create easily at home – whilst making breakfast! Simply mix the ingredients together and pour them into an airtight glass jar, ready to use once breakfast is done!
Body scrubs are great for exfoliating because not only do they remove dead skin cells, but nourish the skin underneath too, leaving your skin soft with a healthy glow! Goodbye winter itch for good!
Rise and grind
Nothing quite says good morning like a cup of coffee! So, whilst waiting for it to brew, throw together this super simple scrub before you grab some breakfast. Loaded with caffeine, coffee grounds can help to protect the skin from free radical damage. They’re also great for circulation! As for coconut oil, it’s an excellent emollient – think moisture, moisture, moisture!
What you’ll need:
- 1 cup ground coffee
- 1/2 cup virgin coconut oil
- 1 cup of sugar
Morning has broken
Coffee brewed – it’s time for something to eat. Start off nice and healthy with a gorgeous grapefruit and make use of what’s left behind to create this fresh scrub! Loaded with vitamins A and C, minerals, and antioxidants grapefruit can help to protect your skin from harsh environmental factors.
What you’ll need:
- 1 cup of olive oil
- 1 cup of sea salt
- 1 tbsp lemon zest
- The inner pith from the grapefruit (and scrape out any of the juicy fruit that might be left too) or 2 drops of grapefruit essential oil
In the shower, use to exfoliate in gentle, circular motions, from toes to top! When done, rinse and pat dry. You shouldn’t need to moisturise since the olive oil will leave your skin dewy-soft.
Avo go
Avocado on toast for after the grapefruit? Sounds great! Just remember to save an avocado for your next scrub that you’ll be making! As with coconut oil, avocado can help as a protective barrier for your skin, leaving your skin feeling more supple and moisturised. It may even help with skin tone and reducing breakouts.
What you’ll need:
- 1 ripe avocado, peeled and mashed
- 1/3 cup of ground almonds
- 3/4 cup of ground oatmeal
In the bath or shower, gently rub a handful all over your body from the top down. In gentle circles, massage into your skin and then rinse thoroughly.
Breakfast over and you’re left with 3 body scrubs that’ll keep your skin soft, supple and glowing all winter long! To use, dampen the skin and use to exfoliate in gentle, circular motions. Rinse off thoroughly. You probably won’t need to moisturise because of the oils in each scrub – but don’t hesitate to use one of our Natural Body Butters should you need an extra boost of moisture.
However, before you dash off to your day, we do have one more trick up our sleeves – our all-natural Konjac Sponge which gently cleanses and exfoliates your skin – no scrubs necessary!
